Methods to Reheat Mozzarella Sticks

Mozzarella sticks are one of the most popular finger foods for kids. They’re also really easy to make at home. But, what do you do when you made too many and it’s time to heat them up?

#1 Using an Oven

The most common, sought-after, and conventional method of reheating mozzarella sticks is by using an oven. This method is the one that restores the taste and texture of the cheese sticks close to the freshly fried ones, only that it takes a lot of time. So, if you are in a hurry, I wouldn’t suggest this method to you.

However, if you have the time to chuck them in the oven, follow the steps below:

  • Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  • In the meantime, take out the mozzarella sticks and place them one by one on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake them in the oven for 10 minutes, flip them over, and bake them for another five minutes.
  • In case the mozzarella sticks are frozen, increase the oven’s temperature to 450 degrees Fahrenheit instead.

If you don’t own an oven, you can also use a toaster oven and follow the same steps as you would’ve done for a traditional oven.

#2 Using a Microwave

Reheating fried foods using a microwave is never favorable since there’s a chance that your food might turn soggy and oily. However, not everyone has the time to reheat them in the oven, right? In such cases, it is always best to use a microwave and call it a day. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Place the desired amount of mozzarella sticks on a microwave-safe dish.
  • Put them in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, flip them over, and then reheat them again for another 20 seconds.
  • Check if your mozzarella stick is ready by cutting one piece in half. If it’s not crispy enough and the cheese hasn’t melted enough yet, reheat them for another 15 seconds.
  • And finally, step three is to always enjoy – as cheesy goodness should never go uneaten!

They might not be the crispiest mozzarella sticks that you could have, but at least they’ll be warm and gooey from the inside.

#3 Using an Air Fryer

Who doesn’t love mozzarella sticks with that gooey cheese on the inside? Sure, microwaving them is a tried and true method to reheat these tasty treats. But what if you could do it in less than 5 minutes?!

Fact: An air fryer allows food to be cooked at high temperatures using two convection fans as opposed to one or no heating element which would cause a microwave oven to create heat by running an electric current through its metal coils.

This means your delicious mozzarella sticks will come out crispy instead of soggy like they might get from sitting in their own grease for too long (who likes eating those?). So how exactly should we reheat our favorite fried goodness using an air fryer? Let’s take this step-by-step:

  • Preheat the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 minutes.
  • Lay out those delicious mozzarella sticks on parchment paper and sprinkle some seasoning over the top of each stick to make sure it’s all tasty!
  • Once done, open the air fryer’s basket and place a parchment paper with mozzarella sticks on top of it, and set the timer for 5-7 minutes.
  • You can check halfway through it and flip them every now and then to ensure even reheating.

#4 Using a Stove or Deep-fryer

The last but likely the most convenient method of reheating leftover mozzarella sticks is by deep-frying them again. It is a pretty straightforward process. All you have to do is follow the steps:

  • Fill your pan or deep fryer with oil.
  • Let it preheat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and check the temperature with a measuring thermometer.
  • Once the oil is hot enough, you can put the mozzarella sticks and then wait till they are done refrying.
  • It should take somewhere between 1-2 minutes maximum for them to be done.
  • Keep moving them around to ensure that it doesn’t stick to the pan’s bottom or, even worse, get burnt.

Conclusion

Reheating mozzarella sticks is not rocket science. All you have to do is find the most convenient method for you and then follow the steps accordingly. Make sure that you always defrost the mozzarella sticks if you are reheating them in the microwave or deep frying them again.
